1945. Born in Gimhae city located in Kyoungsang Province, Korea 1966. Admitted in the Department of Law, Seoul National Univ. 1970s. He was at the head of the democratic struggle against Yu Shin Regime which had been a political deception invented by President Park Jounghee who had seized the helm of state through the military coup in 1961 and tried to secure the permanent seizure of power. Since the suicide of Jun Taeil who desperately demanded the improvement of working conditions and burned himself.. He struggled with the alienated people through Cheonggye Clothing Trade Union etc., and was searched and arrested several times throughout 1970s. 1971.10. For the 1st time, he was imprisoned for one year because of leading the anti-dictatorship struggle waged by the students of Seoul National University. 1973.10. For the 2nd time, he was imprisoned because of the anti-Yu Shin dictatorship demonstration. 1974. 4. He was searched because he led the National Confederation of Democratic Youth and Students, which protested against Yu Shin dictatorship. 1977. 2. For the 3rd time, he was imprisoned because of the Event of Cheonggye Clothing Trade Union and the Urgent Measure No. 9 ordered by president Park Jeonghee. And he was released due to the death of president Park Jeonghee on October 26, 1979. 1980s. During president Jeon Doohwan's regime which was established through the military coup and president Roh Taewoo's regime, he organized the Federation of People's Movement of the Democracy and Reunification which rallied the organizations of democratic movement on a national scale, with Mun Ikhwan, Gye Hoonje, Baek Giwan etc., and led the movement for the amendment of the constitution, etc. In addition to these, for the period of being made a search and imprisonment, he wrote some books on the strategy, tactics and policy of the democratic movement. 1980. 5 He was searched because of the involvement in the so-called event of Kim Daejoong's alleged attempt to overthrow the government soon after the state of siege on May 17 in the course of trying to prevent the emergence of the new military including Jun Doohwan, Roh Taewoo. 1984. He participated in organizing the Federation of People's Movement of the Democracy and Reunification and became chairman of policy-making bureau and secretary general in turn. 1986. For the 4th time, he was imprisoned because of leading the Struggle of Amending the Constitution on May 3 in Incheon. 1989. 1. Secretary General of the National Federation of the National and Democratic Movement. 1989. He played the role of midwife organizing the People's Party which would be the 1st progressive and popular party and was responsible of making the program and basic polities of the People's Party. 1990. He became chairman of organizing sub-committee of the Propelling Committee of the Democratic Alliance and chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Program and Policies which belonged to the Preparatory Committee of Creating the People's Party in turn. 1990. 11. He organized the People's Party 1991. 5. He led the Anti-Military and Democratic Struggle in May both as co-president of the National Preparing Meeting against the Barbarous Killing of Patriotic Kang Kyungdae and for Putting an End to the Terror Rule and as president of the executive committee of the Funeral Committee of Patriotic Kim Guijeong . 1991. 8. Chairman of Policy Committee and President of Dongjak Gap District of People's Party. 1992.10. For the 5th time, he was imprisoned because of the alleged violence of the National Security Law. He fought for the peaceful transfer of the regime. 1995.10. He organized the Political Party of Social Reform. He became the Deputy President of the New Reforming Party. However, after the party failed in the general election for the parliament. he gave up the membership in the New Reforming Party. 1996. 7. He founded the Policy Institute for the New Civilization and became the President of the Institute, which offered many seminars and symposiums for policy-making. He opened the political column site, Chang Kipyo Si-Sa-Non-Pyung in the Internet where he has written a lot of famous political columns. 2000. 3.
